Datavita’s new highly resilient, purpose-built data centre which is situated in the basement of 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow, is of tier III design, with 130 racks worth of space. With excellent fibre connectivity and highly efficient cooling using green energy, the data centre has an exceptional level of physical security.
DTGen was appointed to deliver the emergency power solution for this new city centre facility, with the standby generators located high in the city’s skyline on the building rooftop and powered by HVO - a renewable fuel, made from 100% sustainable waste plant matter.
Service supplied
To support this highly resilient mission-critical site, we designed the solution, and then supplied and installed two 2.5MVA generators on the building rooftop in bespoke acoustic enclosures to meet local planning requirements. The generators were craned into position, and the installation was completed while the building was live.
Application
The two 2.5MVA 11kV high voltage, super silent generators are complete with a control system that will cover switching between both dual mains supplies and the backup synchronising generators. The complex mains/generator power management system incorporates human-machine interface modules, dual redundant controllers, and high voltage neutral earth resistors.
Each generator runs off its own day tank with an auto fuel fill system from ground floor bulk storage tanks, and double-skinned fuel lines with leak detection in place.
