CHP Sales Engineer / Manager

We are now extending our product portfolio to included gas CHP and have partnered with a leading international manufacturer of combined and heat and power plant (CHP) for the decentralised provision of power and heat with an electrical output of 20 to 4,500 kW.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team and help develop our CHP business.

The Role
- The ability to sell an extensive range of CHP engines (20kW to 4.5MW).
- Technical and economic appraisal of CHP schemes from energy data, site visits or technical briefs.
- Develop viable solutions in cogeneration (LTHW), tri-generation (e.g. steam) and quad-generation (absorption chiller).
- Managing sales enquiries, preparation and submission of tender responses and negotiating and concluding to order placement.
- Interfacing with our manufacturing partners and office-based sales staff and project delivery team.

Experience
- Minimum five years technical and commercial experience in gas CHP cogeneration solutions or similar role.
- Capable of liaising with high profile clients and consultants.
- Ability to create an economic feasibility study based on end users energy consumption.
- Ability to understand technical specifications, briefs and drawings.
- Experience in the tender process from site visits, client meetings and writing tender responses.

Ideal Candidate
- Must be a team player, so will be expected to fit in well with the existing DTG team.
- Must also be highly self-motivated and be able to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent ability to network with customers, suppliers and industry specialists.

Job Title

Generator Field Service Engineer

Location

Scotland, Midlands, Northern England

Due to continued growth and investment, we are looking for home based experienced diesel generator service engineers.

Role Description:
Based remotely, you will be required to carry out planned servicing, repair, upgrades and breakdown response work at customer sites on generators from 10kVA – 2500kVA.

Primary Tasks:
- Maintenance on generators to include all relevant electrical and mechanical testing
- Fault diagnosis and rectification
- Installation of temporary generators
- Load bank towing and testing
- Participation in the company on call rota
- Complete and submit accurate reports in a timely manner
- Assisting with installations and commissioning
- Site surveys to assist project sales
- Control system wiring

Qualifications:
- Served a recognised apprenticeship as a mechanical/electrical engineer
- Electrical engineering IEE regs - 17th Edition (beneficial)
- Part P (beneficial)
- The ideal candidate will an experienced generator field service engineer with past exposure to FG Wilson, Perkins or similar brands

You will have:
- Strong knowledge of all electrical and mechanical aspects of generator power installations
- First class customer facing skills
- Good communication skills
- No criminal record
- Flexibility to meet requirements of service operations.
- Relevant experience in a similar role

Dieselec Thistle Generators Ltd is looking for an experienced technically competent, hands on Engineering Project Engineer to join our existing team.


We work across all industries including utilities, commercial, data centres, retail and government framework contracts - this is a superb opportunity for an experienced engineer to become a key player in an expanding company within the power generation sector and for career progression this vacancy is also part of our succession planning. This vacancy has arisen due to the impending retirement in a year or so of the present incumbent.


We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can work on their own initiative as well as being part of a long-standing team. Office based but requirement to work on sites throughout the UK with trips away from home for short periods.


Requirements

  • Full knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Experienced with AutoCAD software. AutoCAD Electrical experience and Mechanical layouts would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided
  • Full driving licence
  • CDM Experience
  • Experience of M & E Projects
  • Diesel Generator knowledge. This will be given where specifically required.
  • Making sure that each stage of the project is progressing on time and on budget
  • Interpret clients' requirements
  • Maintain all client and project documentation requirements
  • Identify engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented
  • Liaise with third party contractors to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose
  • Liaise with in house departments and external suppliers for equipment and delivery builds and fitouts
  • Agreeing the timescales, costs and resources needed
  • Managing day to day activities both on site and office relating to the project
  • Managing in house and contract labour
  • Managing Project HSE requirements
  • Create Risk Assessments and Method Statements together with Lift Plans etc.
  • Ability to create and maintain customer relationships


Qualifications

  • Formal training and qualification in Engineering Discipline
  • IOSH Managing Safety Certificate or equivalent
  • CSCS Discipline Card
  • Proven engineering experience

Junior Engineer

DTG are a specialist power supplier, with expertise in standby power systems, gas co-generation combined heating and power systems and gas standby generator systems.  We are looking to recruit a junior engineer to join our power solution sales team.  The engineer will be required to work as part of a team and be comfortable with working on their own. 

Their daily duties and tasks will vary however typically include:

  • Reviewing mechanical & electrical specifications & drawings.
  • Preparing technical & commercial offers.
  • Liaising with other departments, suppliers & customers.
  • Assisting the solution sales team through office support.
  • Assisting the field sales managers with technical & commercial support.
  • Carrying out site surveys.
  • Attending supplier & customer meetings.

The successful candidate will be provided with various types of training to assist them with their duties and tasks. 

The preferred candidate:

  • Preferably come from an engineering background.
  • Minimum qualifications – HNC in relevant discipline.
  • Carry a full driving license.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite.
  • AutoCad experience would be beneficial however not essential.
