We have supported Scottish Water at its new £35 million state-of-the-art wastewater treatment works in Winchburgh – supplying and installing the standby power solution.

The innovative new works, which is only the second of its kind in Scotland and uses Nereda technology, has now started to receive and treat flows from the growing population of Winchburgh in West Lothian.

We supplied a 550kva generator with mains controller, bulk fuel tank and welded inner and outer pipework.

The standby power system was factory acceptance tested at our test cell in Glasgow before being transported to site and installed.

The award-winning Nereda treatment technology makes treating wastewater significantly more energy efficient and takes up a smaller site footprint compared to the conventional treatment process. Thanks to its efficiency and effectiveness, it will help protect the local water environment, whilst providing the required capacity to support the local community as it continues to grow.

With all the major construction work complete, the testing of the process and equipment is now underway. The commissioning process is ongoing within the new works to ensure everything is operating as expected.

An official opening is being planned for summer 2024.
