We were appointed by Datum, and lead contractor Keysource, to deliver the standby power solution for the new £30 million MCR2 project to expand Datum’s infrastructure with a new datacentre facility in Wythenshawe, adjacent to its existing Manchester site.

Integrating the latest sustainability standards and best practices throughout the construction process, from design to implementation, we supplied and installed a 5000kVA power solution, including two Cummins 60-litre QSK60 generator sets, renowned for their exceptional load step capability.

These generators ensure rapid response in the event of a mains failure, seamlessly transitioning to support the site's load within seconds.

To optimise space on site, the generators were designed to sit atop 800mm high structural steel fuel tanks. This compact design eliminated the need for a large separate fuel tank, contributing to a more streamlined and space-efficient facility layout. The generators are housed in compact acoustic enclosures with a vertical outlet air discharge arrangement.
