We've been contracted by a distribution network operator on behalf of NHS North Cumbria Integrated Care to supply and install three new standby generators at Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

DTGen will install the 2,000 kVA generators in a purpose-built area at the rear of the hospital along with noise attenuated enclosures and a fuel distribution system. These 11kV units will feed the 11kV network installed around the site, ensuring a resilient standby power system supports the hospital supply. The system will be commissioned during 2023.

This puts us in a strong position for delivering mission-critical projects where the end-user relies on us to ensure life-saving services are maintained throughout any interruption to the mains power supply.”

The current Cumberland Infirmary which was officially opened by Tony Blair in June 2000, is a 444-bed facility serving the local community with a wide range of services including accident and emergency, cardiology, children’s services and general medicine. The £35 million Northern Centre for Cancer Care was added to the site and officially opened in 2021 to improve health outcomes for the local population.
