Hatching plans for Scottish Sea Farms

DTG was selected to provide the backup power supply to Scottish Sea Farms’ (SSF) new £44m freshwater onshore hatchery at Barcaldine near Oban in Argyll.

The bio-secure facility will enable smolts (young salmon) to be grown to a larger, more robust size, thereby shortening their time at sea and increasing their resistance to naturally occurring marine challenges. The first fish raised in the facility are expected to be transferred to sea pens in 2019.

We supplied the state-of-the-art Barcaldine site with two 1700kVA sets.
