At a time when all the talk is of economic contraction, consolidation and keeping companies’ heads above water, few are bullish about growth. In this article, however, sales director of generator specialist, Dieselec Thistle, Brian Muirie, discusses the importance of a growth strategy during tough economic times and the need to plan ahead to ensure growth is managed effectively.
In the little over 12 months since Thistle and Dieselec combined forces to become Dieselec Thistle the company has more than tripled its headcount and is on track to double its turnover this year. This growth is down to much more than the combined size of the two organisations but the expertise of the combined team and the company’s continued insistence on employing high calibre people has played a major role.
Brian discusses how playing to the strengths of his team and brining on board complementary skills and experience has played an essential part in growing the business. He also talks about strategic focus in terms of developing new client relationships, the role of excellent service delivery and proactive customer care and the contribution of company culture in the drive to become the most successful at what you do by being the best at what you do.
