The Hilton London Bankside is a purpose built hotel with a four-storey glass atrium, 292 rooms and fitness centre, complete with swimming pool, and an opulent ballroom with capacity for 700 guests.
This level of comfort, so close to the centre of the city, requires a highly resilient power supply. As such, Dieselec Thistle were engaged to supply a 400kVA Silent running Stand-by Generator to ensure any power cuts do not interrupt the enjoyment of the Hotels’ guests.
This is the closest five star hotel to the Tate Modern so visitors who are interested in art can enjoy the short stroll to the gallery – while easy access to Southwark underground station offers easy access to the tube network. To complement the facilities there are 31 suites, executive lounge, plus a restaurant, bar and cafe and more than 1,000 square metres of meeting space.
The building has been designed by Dexter Moren Architects and features a split level design with one half of the building lower than the other to give two adjoining forms, linked by a glazed entrance and inner lightwell. The facade combines brick, metal and glass with retail outlets located along the hotel’s frontage at street level. Work started on the project in 2010 and a ‘topping out’ ceremony was held on the roof of the hotel in June 2014 ahead of an anticipated summer 2015 opening.
It is sure to become an icon of London’s Southbank and Dieselec Thistle are proud to be involved.
