Thistle Generators was formed, supplying and installing diesel generator sets across the UK. Growing yearly to a turnover of circa £7m, trading at this level continued until 2010.
Dieselec Generators became a limited company and fully authorised FG Wilson Dealership in 2004. Since then the company grew significantly year on year, culminating in the acquisition of a major competitor, Thistle Generators, in December 2010. Dieselec also secured an investment deal with Nevis Capital LLP in September 2010. Nevis were instrumental in the acquisition of Thistle.
In January 2011, we moved to our new 6.3 acre HQ in Milngavie, Glasgow, where we consolidated the activities of Dieselec and Thistle, and rebranded as Dieselec Thistle Generators.
The new business continued to grow rapidly, and this was recognised in 2012 when we were listed in The Sunday Times, as the 56th fastest growing private company in the UK. Our continued, consistent growth has been achieved as a direct result of high levels of customer service and this remains the core objective of the business.
We continue to develop our HQ facility and upgraded our stock warehouse to over 80,000 sq ft. At this time we also invested over £1 million in a bespoke test cell and stock warehouse, giving us the capability to test 7.5 MVA of generator sets simultaneously and to hold significant stock levels.
Our managing director, Paul Moore won the PWC Entrepreneur of the year award and DTG were winners at the Scottish SME awards.
Now the leading generator specialist in the country, we continue to grow from strength to strength. Employing over 60 people which includes 10 HV certified engineers, holding over £1 million worth of available generator stock and in the SME 300 list.
