About the Project
We were appointed to supply and install backup power for a series of Scottish whisky distilleries: Torabhaig Distillery, a new £5m development housed in a 19th century farm steading on the Isle of Skye; Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain; The Macallan Distillery, part of the Macallan Estate near Moray in Speyside; and William Grant and Sons’ Girvan Distillery - founded in 1963 and producer of the world-famous Hendricks Gin.
Torabhaig
The Torabhaig installation includes a 300kVA generator housed in a modular acoustic canopy designed to reduce the generator noise to 80dBA at one metre from the enclosure. Fuel is provided from a 5000 litre bunded tank installed adjacent to the generator and interconnecting fuel lines feature ‘twin wall’ design ensuring full compliance with all relevant standards. The generator control system is designed for automatic start stop control ensuring immediate generator back-up power in the event of loss of mains power to the distillery.
Glenfiddich
At Glenfiddich, we installed a 150kVA generator housed in a modular acoustic canopy designed to reduce the generator noise to 80dBA at one metre from the enclosure. Fuel is provided from the 425 litre integral bunded tank. The generator control system is designed for automatic start stop control ensuring immediate generator back-up power in the event of loss of mains power to the facility.
Glenmorangie
The Glenmorangie site had been subject to a number of prolonged power outages, the most recent lasted five hours. A 100kVA generator, housed in a modular acoustic canopy designed to reduce the generator noise to 80dBA at one metre from the enclosure, was supplied. Fuel is provided from a 300 litre integral bunded tank. The generator control system is designed for automatic start stop control ensuring immediate generator back-up power in the event of loss of mains power to the ETP (effluent treatment plant) facility.
Macallan
Macallan was supplied with a 180kVA generator housed in a modular acoustic canopy designed to reduce the generator noise to 80dBA at one metre from the enclosure. Fuel is provided from the 500 litre integral bunded tank. The generator control system is designed for automatic start stop control ensuring immediate generator back-up power in the event of loss of mains power to the facility.
Girvan
William Grant and Sons’ Girvan Distillery was supplied with a 300kVA generator housed in a modular acoustic canopy designed to reduce the generator noise to 80dBA at one metre from the enclosure. Fuel is provided from the 500 litre integral bunded tank. The generator control system is designed for automatic start stop control ensuring immediate generator back-up power in the event of loss of mains power to the facility.
